Based on bestseller novel Rehepapp by Andrus Kivirähk, Estonian pagan and European Christian mythologies come together mixing magic, black humour and romance in this film about souls – longing for a soul, selling your soul and living without a soul. Set in a village where werewolves, the plague and spirits roam, villagers turn to stealing to survive the long, cold winters. Stealing from each other, their landlords, even the spirits – nothing is taboo. To guard their souls they give them to thieving creatures called Kratts. Young Lina struggles with unrequited love for village boy Hans but her longing turns her into a werewolf who is ready to die for love.
